Algorithmics (HESS) was introduced into the VCE curriculum in 2015. The motivation for the creation of the study was to encourage more students to develop the critical thinking skills, structure and concepts to enable them to participate as creators of computational technology and information systems. “Algorithmic thinking is a major component of computational thinking and is seen as being one of the most important computer science topics for developing critical thinking skills” Successful students of the subject are eligible for university credits in Computer Science.

MAV - Workshop presented live at MAV at various hubs and online. If you cannot attend any of the listed hubs, you may also participate via the Polycom app (for this option indicate “non-hub”). Please note when registering that you indicate the appropriate venue.

Georgia is an experienced VCE Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, and Algorithmics (HESS) secondary teacher at Distance Education Centre Victoria. Author of "An Introduction to Algorithmic Thinking - Algorithmics (HESS) Student Guide", a self published and print on demand textbook available from http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/algorithmics. Online course author of VCE Algorithmics (HESS) 2015-present at Distance Education Centre Victoria. Author and contributor to MAV VCE resources. Regular presenter of workshops for teachers at MAV and Digicon conferences, and an advocate for STEM education.
