A Critical analysis of the use of effect sizes to judge impact.


We will look at the various ways effect sizes are calculated and ranked. Specifically we will look at John Hattie's Visible Learning and the problems of comparing effect sizes from different studies. We will also look at the specific studies Hattie used to calculate effect sizes. In particular, we will look at the studies for 'Worked Examples', 'Class Size', Reducing Disruptive Behaviour', 'Self-Report Grades' and 'Welfare'. We will give delegates the option to decide which studies we use. We are sure you will be very surprised at what you find!

We will provide electronic copies of the studies to view and read on your computer.
