Reasoning: The forgotten proficiency


This presentation will explore the research around reasoning in Mathematics and its importance to developing complete students of mathematics. It's major focus will be on how teachers can implement the teachings of the research, what they look like for the teacher and what they look like for the students. It's purpose is to assist teachers in integrating a strong research based reasoning program within their current teaching program, rather than sitting as a separate entity. Teachers will see how what they are already doing can be modified to emphasise reasoning and be used to increase students ability to transfer their knowledge as well as solve problems.
