Dr Ian Lowe will be running a series of hands-on workshops designed to assist new teachers of mathematics from Year 7 to 10, or for teachers who have not had training in how to teach mathematics. This is the sixth of eight workshops and will cover measurement, a topic too abstract for many students to understand. It will provide hands-on activities that will assist you in helping your students navigate through this complex topic. Ian Lowe has been with MAV for 12 years. He has a lifetime of innovative teaching (e.g. GLIMA, RIME, Maths at Work) using group work and hands-on materials to build understanding. Many of his publications are sold by MAV (Active Learning, Interactive Learning, Maths at Work) and are integrated into his program for creating successful differentiation, called Teach Maths for Understanding, available on the MAV website. Catering will be provided.
